The report said last month that the surveys conducted by the UP Population Institute indicate that agents from call center Philippines were more open to casual sex because there are a lot more people in the call centers who engage themselves in romantic relationships inside the office. The study said this result to a risky sexual behavior of the agents. It tracked that forty percent of males in call center agencies have a relationship within the office. The survey further added that thirty four percent of females in contact center agencies undergo intercourse without protection whatsoever.
At the height of this issue, the Philippine General Hospital was alarmed with the rate and number of agents being positive with HIV. Since then, some of contact center agents have been branded as some sort of sex machine. I strongly disapprove of this. I bet even now some call center agents getting hurt from the impression that they are part of a bad culture brought about by sex resulting to a terrible, contagious disease.

I feel bad for all the call center agents. Besides from being branded as people who are definitely underemployed, now they would also have to deal with the impression that they either have HIV or frequently engage in sexual promiscuity with workmates inside the office. Although there are some information drive against this impression on them, it is still really a bothering as well as a concerning matter not only for people who work in the contact center agency but as well as the relatives of those involved. In my opinion, I think it’s really unfair that the industry gets a spotlight on this issue especially that HIV is a contagious disease that doesn’t really target anyone.
